Heart Disease

Heart disease is a broad class of diseases, which can be caused by genetic factors, lifestyle, or a combination of the two. Because heart muscle regrows too slowly to repair itself, heart disease can result in irreversible damage to the heart. Scientists are currently investigating where it is possible to use stem cells from the heart to develop cardiac muscle to transplant into damaged hearts, improving their function.
