iPS cells

Adult cells can be genetically reprogrammed into ‘induced’ pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that can behave like embryonic stem cells to make any cell type in the body, offering opportunities for studying, treating and potentially curing diseases. Bespoke treatments to fix a patient’s specific genetic problems could be possible using iPSCs created from a patient’s own cells.
