Spinal Cord Injuries

Spinal cord injuries occur when the spinal cord is severely damaged. This can cause a change or loss of function (such as sensation or motor control) to the area of the body controlled by the portion of the cord below the point of injury. These changes may be temporary or permanent. Researchers are investigating whether neural stem cells (NSCs) or induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) can be induced to repair the injured site.
